Through our many years of business, we have come to understand that there are buyers who want used mobile phones. There is a demand for used products, and there are certainly users who need them.
Resolving sellers’ concerns and connecting them with new buyers is our mission at MASATOMI, and we have culminated this in our unique solution.
Our company started its buying and selling business in 2010, at the dawn of the used mobile phone market. We thoroughly erase any personal information remaining on the device, and check its operation for a total of 22 items to visualize its value. In recent years, we have also created a unique system in which the seller completes these inspection tasks, providing a recycling-oriented solution for the used mobile phone market.
Currently, our company has the largest track record in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions, selling mobile phones to over 2,000 buyers per month. However, the road to getting here has not been smooth. The number of new mobile phone shipments in Japan averages 30 million units per year (*1), while the number of second-hand products is only 1.63 million units (*2). We believe that these figures indicate that users are worried about whether their personal information will be properly erased, and that they will not be able to sell their products for a reasonable price . *1: MM Research Institute: Trends in the domestic mobile phone market, June 2020 *2: MM Research Institute Press Release: Trends and Forecasts of Used Smartphone Market Size (March 2020)
The devices entrusted to us by our customers are stored in a dedicated storage room until the time comes to check their operation. The storage room is managed by a dedicated security team. The doors are equipped with a PIN code, which only the security team knows and which is changed once every three months. When someone enters or leaves the storage room, a slip is attached to record the entry and exit, allowing for double and triple checks.
Security cameras are installed in the storage room 24 hours a day, recording people entering and leaving the room and the work being done there throughout the day. In accordance with our company's information security guidelines, the recorded video data is managed by the security team. Maintenance of the cameras themselves is also performed once a year, along with inspections of their installation status and angle, to ensure that no recordings are missed.
The devices we receive are stored according to our own operating rules, combining the date they were received, the customer's name (corporate name), and the model name. Some corporations use the same model, but even if they don't, there are many similar models. We manage them with the utmost care to prevent mix-ups.
If the reason why new mobile phones in circulation are not flowing into the secondhand market is because users are worried about whether their personal information will be properly erased or whether they will not be able to sell them for a reasonable price, we recognize that resolving these concerns is our biggest challenge. In order to simultaneously resolve both the “risk of taking custody” and “risk of depositing” risks, we have developed our own system service, “MS2021.”
Our mission is to find the value that mobile phones should have and recycle them. Approximately 60% of mobile phone users keep their previously used devices at work or at home. The main reasons for this are “concerns about personal information” and the preconceived notion that “second-hand devices don’t fetch much anyway.” In order to eliminate these concerns and preconceived notions, we have condensed the know-how we have cultivated. To give our customers peace of mind, we offer an on-site data erasure and operation check service using our original app.

When purchasing from most companies, you often face minimum order quantities or bulk requirements. However, we prioritize your needs and can handle orders of any size, whether it's a single unit or a larger lot. Our flexible approach ensures you get exactly what you need without restrictions.

We have developed a unique app that can check the condition of your mobile phone, providing a service that allows you to accurately grasp its current condition through a total of 22 items, including 9 visual inspection items and 13 sensor diagnostic items.

When purchasing, we use our own system to erase personal information and check the operation at the customer's location. The inspection takes about 20 minutes for 10 units. We can respond quickly and without wasting your valuable time.

Our data erasure system meets the standards set by the international certification agency ADISA and the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), ensuring safe and speedy data erasure.
Currently, we sell used mobile phones to over 2,000 buyers per month. We can of course suggest products based on a customer’s specific model preference, but we can also suggest products that fit their intended use and budget.
We have developed a unique maintenance inspection system that can check the condition of your mobile phone at the same time as erasing your personal information. We visualize the value of your mobile phone through a total of 22 inspection items, including 9 appearance inspection items and 13 sensor diagnostic items. We only sell devices that have passed our strict inspection items, so you can use them with peace of mind.
Committed to providing high-quality pre-owned devices at competitive prices. Our extensive network and rigorous quality control processes ensure that every phone meets our stringent standards, offering you reliable technology at a fraction of the cost. Whether you’re looking to sell or purchase, we provide a seamless, trustworthy experience that prioritizes your satisfaction.
MASATOMI’s used mobile phone business started in 2010 with three staff members and just one customer. We have now grown to a reasonable scale of business, but we never lose sight of our original purpose at the start. We have faced many obstacles, but each time we have looked back on our original intentions and overcome each obstacle one by one to get to where we are today.
We have established an overseas sales network, mainly in Southeast Asia, enabling us to quickly respond to the global market.
We are also focusing on overseas sales in Northern Europe, North America, and Asia. Rather than leaving still-usable mobile phones unused or discarded, we deliver used mobile phones to many customers who need them, not only in Japan but also overseas, using our own network that is suited to various places and situations where they are needed.
